1. Plan before installing the camera

Use paper and pen and prioritize the places you want to watch. Use a plan of your house or draw the rooms yourself and think about where you want to place the cameras. We advise you about the most important places like:

  • Entrance doors to the street
  • Exterior windows
  • Porches
  • Stairs
  • Wide common spaces
  • Places of entry

Then buy the most suitable video surveillance kit or system as planned. You can buy separate parts or kits, although the latter is cheaper. Typically, you buy 1 to 3 cameras, a DVR (digital video recorder), wiring, connectors, and power cables. If you only want to monitor a room or a large room you can use only wireless cameras.

Basic security package in your home: buy 2-3 outdoor cameras to monitor the entrances to your home from the street.

Surveillance of children or valuables: the most comfortable are wireless cameras that broadcast live to your mobile or computer. Various Models of Video Surveillance Cameras You can choose between different types of cameras:

Analog cameras: they are the oldest and of the lowest quality, although they are useful for basic systems. The best are the hybrids.

IP cameras: they give great image quality in addition to being able to send the video to a mobile app to see the recording in real-time.

HD-TVI cameras: the best in quality-price, they also use the same wiring as analog.

WIFI cameras: good resolution and when connecting via wifi you avoid wiring.

Hidden cameras: to hide in places and small size.

Simulated cameras: false cameras that seem real.

The best place to place them is from upper corners, at the limit where the ceiling joins the walls. Before sure to have near an outlet stream near the camera.

If the installation is exterior, put them at an approximate height of 3 meters in height to avoid being manipulated.

When installing it on many occasions you will need to make some holes in the wall for the camera supports. Then connect the camera to the power supply and your DVR using a BNC connector. BNC cables have both equal ends. Connect one to the output port and another to the DVR input.

The wireless cameras must be installed with the CD that comes for the computer, or through a USB. Then connect the monitor to the DVR with BNC, HDMI or coaxial cables.

To verify that everything is working correctly check that the camera, DVR and monitor are connected to the power supply and turned on.

3. Unify your system to a central unit

If you are going to connect several cameras with cables, you need to unify everything in a DVR. A comfortable place is next to the internet router. The cable (RG59 or RG6 ) will be really useful for installing the camera. You can also use a power box to connect several cameras to a single outlet.

Connect each video cable to a different port of the DVR. With the DVR you can see several cameras at once.

If you need help with the installation you can always ask for help from a technician.
